Secondary Admissions

Children normally transfer from primary (Year 6) to secondary school (Year 7) at the start of the school year in which their twelfth birthday falls (i.e. 1 September to 31 August inclusive).

Children will be eligible to move to Secondary School in September 2024 if their date of birth lies between 01.09.12 and 31.08.13.

The majority of pupils in our school move on to Croesyceiliog School and there are a variety of transition activities that run in Year 5 and Year 6 to aid the move.

We also have a small number of pupils who go to other schools in the local area, including Cwmbran High School, Abersychan Comprehensive, West Monmouth Comprehensive School, Crownbridge School and St Alban's High School.

The closing date for 2024 September secondary school admissions is Monday 13th November at 12 noon.  Any forms received after this date will be classed as a late application and will be considered on a monthly basis inline with the Admissions Policy.

If you experience any difficulties applying online please contact school admissions on 01495 766915 or email schooladmissions@torfaen.gov.uk

Parents/carers will be notified of the outcome of their application via their chosen method of notification by Friday 1st March 2024.

If you are not a Torfaen resident you will be required to contact your Home Authority to seek advice on how to apply.

If however you wish for your child to attend a Voluntary Aided School, you will need to contact that school directly for the necessary admission arrangements.
