Nursery 

      We have been learning about the seasonal changes and signs of winter we went for a winter walk, celebrated St Dwynwen

      day opened our rolling snack cafe we had a visitor from the library.

Reception

We looked at some of the places we visit in our local area and talked about who loves us in our community.

Year 1

 In year 1 we have been leaning about our village Pontnewydd. The children have been going on a trip around Pontnewydd and looked at the different homes they have created a bar graph to show the the type of homes they live in. They have also created a painting in the style of Rhiannon Roberts.  

Year 2

The children were inspired by Mrs Maloney's new year assembly about Mari Llwyd and created their ow for our Expressive Art display. We have been learning about our village Pontnewydd. The children have been on a trip around Pontnewydd and looked at different types of homes and businesses. The collected data using a tally chart then created a bar graph on J2 easy to present the data. They have also created a painting of Pontnewydd in the style of Rhiannon Roberts. 

Year 3

We have started our new topic the Romans. We have been researching all about them. We had a virtual tour of the Caerleon online. We learned a roman soldier dance. We attended forest school and had so much fun! We made Roman aqueducts. We began reading the story Bwbach which we have loved so far. 

Year 4

We have started our new topic the Romans. We have been researching all about them. We have made our own Aquaducts and forts on Minecraft. We began reading the lonely Bwbach which we have loved so far. we have been  learning how to talk about our hair and eye colour, pets and family in Welsh. 

SNRB

The children in the LRB have been studying houses, we also had dragon sports come in for rugby lessons. Some of the year 5 LRB's have been out to Cwmbran stadium for swimming.

Year 5

We have been on a trip to Cardiff castle which we enjoyed. We have launched Victorians topic and we have learned about school life for Victorian children, toys/games that Victorian children also played. We have started making Victorian silhouettes. Class 11 have nearly finished their swimming sessions. We have been learning about the story of Oliver Twist and enjoyed watching the film. We have learnt about fractions and percentages and what we like and dislike in Welsh. We have relaunched BIG maths and have continued learning about religion.    

Year 6

In year 6 we have began to read BISP, we also launched our WW2 topic. A lady from a museum brought in artefacts for us to look at. We also started to learn a WW2 dance. A couple of days ago we had a visit from Newport county ( County in the community) and Spytty the dog!
